Annual Report

The Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) and the National Head Start Association (NHSA) are working together to advance student-parent success and the school readiness of young children from low-income families by bringing more Head Start child care centers to more community college campuses. Our five-year Kids on Campus initiative aims to establish at least 50 such programs.

We are excited to present our second annual report, featuring our work, including:

  • 23 new partnership matches in 11 states between community colleges and Head Start programs

  • 2 newly launched partnerships (CA, TX)

  • 3 additional partnerships (IL, MA, MD)

  • 2 in advanced stages of launching (TX)

Year 1 Results:

  • 87 community colleges and 98 Head Starts have taken the initial step in connecting and engaging with Kids on Campus.

  • We’ve found 18 potential matches between community colleges and Head Start programs interested in exploring partnership.

  • Two new Kids on Campus partnerships launched in fall 2024 and a third is set to open in late spring 2025.

  • Launched Kids on Campus—Texas as our first state-focused initiative.
