Annual Report

The Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) and the National Head Start Association (NHSA) are working together to advance student-parent success and the school readiness of young children from low-income families by bringing more Head Start child care centers to more community college campuses. Our five-year Kids on Campus initiative aims to establish at least 50 such programs.

We are excited to present our first annual report, which highlights our first year of project implementation, details why we are doing this important work, our progress to date, our next steps, and how you can get involved. Kids on Campus is off to a strong start.

Year 1 Results:

  • 87 community colleges and 98 Head Starts have taken the initial step in connecting and engaging with Kids on Campus.

  • We’ve found 18 potential matches between community colleges and Head Start programs interested in exploring partnership.

  • Two new Kids on Campus partnerships launched in fall 2024 and a third is set to open in late spring 2025.

  • Launched Kids on Campus—Texas as our first state-focused initiative.
