Raising Up Student Parents

Raising Up is a five-part docuseries investigating the barriers student parents face when pursuing higher education and the innovative leaders creating generational impact.

The series follows four student parents on their post-secondary journey with each film diving more deeply into the issues the student encounter with childcare, affordable housing, mental health, and workforce pathways.

Grounded in hope and real world solutions to systemic educational obstacles, Raising Up is a celebration of the 1 in 5 students parenting on campus and a call to recognize and support this population as they seek to build a better future for themselves and generations to come.

The Kids on Campus project is featured in episode 2: One of the most basic needs parents returning to school have is access to affordable childcare, but many institutions lack the funding and mission to offer childcare on campus. In this film, follow Dr. Daria Willis, President of Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland, as she works to find an innovative solution to bring childcare back to her school.
